Thanks to funding from the “Programme for the Humanities, Social and Cultural Sciences”, an online portal is being developed within the framework of the research project “Occupied Societies in the Second World War – A European Perspective”. This portal aims to make sources which illuminate the manifold issues related to questions of supply and experiences of hunger, and which are taken from all European countries occupied by Germany, readily accessible both to a specialist public and to an interested general public, regardless of the user’s location. Furthermore, this programme also provides funding for a PhD project focussed upon recurring hunger crises in Ukraine which investigates, in particular, the extent to which experiences of the Holodomor impacted upon the survival strategies which people developed during the years of German occupation.
